Interstate Routes from Sydney
Explore NUSS’s interstate destinations below. Your consultant coordinates collection, transport and delivery, with packing and storage available where required. Service dates and indicative delivery windows are confirmed when your move is planned.
How a NUSS Interstate Move Works
An interstate move needs a clear plan for collection, packing, transport and delivery. NUSS assesses your belongings, access requirements and preferred dates before confirming the services and schedule for your relocation.
Free Survey & Interstate Move Planning
A NUSS consultant can visit your Sydney home or complete a video survey to assess what needs to be moved. The survey considers the volume of your belongings, access at collection and delivery, preferred dates and any packing, storage or specialist handling requirements.
NUSS then prepares a firm written quotation based on the assessed scope of your move.
Professional packing
NUSS offers professional packing for interstate relocations, from selected fragile belongings through to complete household packing. Furniture and other belongings are prepared and protected for longer-distance transport using appropriate packing materials. Your requirements are agreed before moving day and incorporated into the moving plan.
You can also pack some or all of your own boxes if preferred, although different insurance conditions can apply to owner-packed goods.
Interstate Transport
NUSS uses national rail networks for its Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Darwin services, while Canberra moves travel by road. Your consultant confirms the transport arrangements, available service options and expected delivery window for your destination.
Delivery & Placement
At your new property, the removal team unloads your belongings according to the agreed scope of the move. Furniture can be placed in the appropriate rooms, and if unpacking has been included in your quote, NUSS can also assist with unpacking at your destination.

Why NUSS
Why Choose NUSS for Your Interstate Move
Interstate moves involve greater distances, longer transit periods and more coordination than most local moves.
NUSS combines an established Sydney operation with interstate services across Australia and one consultant who understands the details of your move from the initial survey through to delivery.

Dedicated & Consolidated Transport Options
A dedicated service keeps your consignment separate, while a consolidated service combines compatible consignments travelling on a planned route. Your consultant explains the options available for your destination, shipment volume and preferred dates, including how collection, interstate transport and final delivery are coordinated.

Quotes Based on the Details of Your Move
Interstate moving costs are influenced by the volume being moved, destination, access, packing, storage, dates and transport arrangements. Rather than relying on a broad online estimate, NUSS assesses your move before preparing a written quotation based on the agreed requirements.
If those requirements later change, such as additional belongings, different access, extra packing, storage or a changed moving date, the quotation may need to be adjusted.

One Consultant Throughout the Process
Your NUSS consultant coordinates the moving schedule and remains your central point of contact throughout the relocation. This gives you someone who understands the move from the beginning rather than requiring you to repeatedly explain the same requirements at different stages.

Packing for Longer-Distance Transport
Interstate moves can place belongings in transit for considerably longer than a local move. NUSS can professionally pack furniture, fragile belongings and household goods in preparation for that journey, with options ranging from selected-item packing to complete household packing and unpacking.

Storage When Your Dates Do Not Align
Settlement and handover dates do not always match. NUSS provides secure short- and long-term storage in Lane Cove and can also arrange temporary storage through interstate destination partners where required. The appropriate storage arrangements can be incorporated into your moving plan.
Looking for Backloading from Sydney?
NUSS does not offer backloading. We offer dedicated and consolidated interstate services, with the appropriate arrangement confirmed for your destination, shipment volume and moving dates.

What Is Interstate Backloading?
Backloading generally uses spare capacity on a vehicle already travelling a route, often on its return journey. Availability and timing depend on that vehicle’s existing schedule.

What Is a Consolidated Interstate Move?
A consolidated service combines compatible customer consignments travelling on a planned interstate route. It can suit customers whose shipment volume and delivery flexibility allow their belongings to travel alongside other consignments.

What Is a Dedicated Interstate Move?
A dedicated service is arranged for your consignment without combining it with other customers’ belongings. Your consultant confirms the transport arrangements and whether this option suits your destination and schedule.

Which Interstate Service Is Right for You?
The right option depends on your destination, shipment volume and preferred collection and delivery dates. Your NUSS consultant explains the available services and includes the agreed arrangement in your written quotation.

Interstate Removals - Frequently Asked Questions
How much does an interstate move from Sydney cost?
The cost of an interstate move depends on the amount being moved, destination, property access, packing and storage requirements and whether dedicated or consolidated transport is selected. NUSS completes a home or video survey before preparing a written, obligation-free quotation based on the assessed requirements of your move.
How long does an interstate move from Sydney take?
Indicative timeframes are approximately four days to Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast; five days to Perth and Adelaide; one to two days to Canberra; and eight days to Darwin and Tasmania. Your consultant confirms the expected timing for your destination and service. These timeframes are a guide rather than a guaranteed delivery date.
Is my furniture insured during an interstate move?
Insurance is not automatically included with a NUSS interstate move. Optional transit insurance can be arranged, including comprehensive replacement-value cover for eligible insured shipments packed by NUSS, subject to the relevant policy terms, conditions and exclusions. Different conditions apply where goods are packed by the owner.
Do you pack for interstate moves or do I pack myself?
Both options are available. NUSS can professionally pack your entire home, selected rooms or particular fragile belongings. You can also pack your own boxes, although owner-packed belongings may be subject to different insurance conditions, so it is worth discussing your packing plans with your consultant before the move.
